Hi there,

It’s natural to feel a little stressed at special times of the year, like Christmas. When you feel sad and low, it can be hard to believe that anyone will understand. You might feel under pressure if people around you expect you to be happy. It could be important to remember that many people find it hard to cope - you're not alone in how you feel. Lots of young people have shared their feelings on the message boards which could be a good place to look.

Different things work for different people. You could start a hobby, exercise or talk to an adult you trust to deal with stress. If talking to someone in your life doesn’t feel like an option for you the Childline counsellors are there to listen and support you 365 days a year.

You might like to think about trying to distract yourself from how you feel by doing something you enjoy like reading a book or watching a favourite film. Different people find different things helpful so it could be a good idea to try a few things so you can find something that really works for you. There are lots of ideas on the Childline website that could help when you are coping with stress.

Take care,

Sam
