Hello,
Thank you for your letter. Im really glad you chose to write in about this, as moving schools can have a big impact on lots of young people. It's something a lot of people tell me they are scared about.
I can hear youve loved your time at primary school. It sounds like primary school has been a positive experience for you. Its great youve enjoyed it. Starting something new can feel scary, as it feels unknown at first.
You might find it helpful to have a look at our School page as it gives some more information about moving schools and what you can do if youre still feeling worried.
Having really enjoyed your time at primary school can make leaving harder. It might make you feel sad about some of the things ending. You might have really liked certain teachers or some friends might even be going to a different secondary school. You might want to think about what you would like to say to the people you will miss, and how you can continue your friendships after primary school.
ChildLine will be here all throughout the summer holidays, so you can get in contact to talk with a ChildLine counsellor anytime. You can contact by calling 0800 1111 (free from any phone), 1-2-1 online chat, or email. You could also ask other people how they felt going up to secondary school on the message boards.
Hope this letter has been helpful. Good luck!
Take care,
Sam
